This 1911 Illinois license plate pair, numbered 17784, represents an important milestone in Illinois' automotive history. 1911 was the first year Illinois issued full plates statewide, marking the transition from owner-provided plates to standardized state-issued designs. Through the state's records, we can see that these plates, #17784, were originally registered to E.M. Cross of Chicago for a Peerless automobile.
