Up for sale is a 1912 Maine porcelain license plate. This plate features the number 568 and blue on yellow coloring.

This plate is made of porcelain enamel, which is a thin layer of glass finish over steel. This plate was made by Ing-Rich Mfg. Co. out of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a well-known manufacturer of many states' porcelain license plates in the early years of cars, as well as many iconic advertising signs.

License plates make great house warming gifts or gifts for someone who was born the year the plates were issued, and they look stellar on a wall in a collection with many different states and colors. It would be a neat gift for someone who lives in Maine, a souvenir to remember a trip to the state, or even as decor to a Maine lover.

Condition:

This plate is in good vintage condition, considering it is a piece of glass-covered metal that was used on an early vehicle in a time before paved roads. It is in 100% original condition, with no touchups or restoration. It is in decent vintage condition, and does show wear and character from use on a vehicle and storage over the years. Most notably, some porcelain loss at the corners and edges and some "crazing" on the right side.

Size:

Measures about 9.5 inches long and 6 inches wide.
