Here we have a vintage 1912 Maine porcelain license plate. The plate features the number 6466 and blue on yellow coloring.

This plate is made of porcelain enamel, which is a thin layer of glass finish over steel. This plate was made by Ing-Rich Mfg. Co. out of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a well-known manufacturer of many states' porcelain license plates in the early years of cars, as well as many iconic advertising signs.

License plates make great house warming gifts or gifts for someone who was born the year the plates were issued, and they look stellar on a wall in a collection with many different states and colors. It would be a neat gift for someone who lives in Maine, a souvenir to remember a trip to the state, or even as decor to a Maine lover.

Condition:

This plate is in good vintage condition, considering it is a piece of glass-covered metal that was used on an early vehicle in a time before paved roads. It does show some wear and character from use and storage over the years. Most notably, it has two small nicks in the "4" (see photos) and another small one below the right mounting slot. It still has all for grommets. It is quite glossy and displays nicely.

Size:

Measures about 9.5 inches long and 6 inches wide.
