1916 California Porcelain License Plate with 1918 Bell Tab Vintage Auto Collectible 70515

Here we have a vintage 1916 California porcelain license plate. This plate is made of porcelain enamel, which is a thin layer of glass finish over steel. The plate features the number 70515 and blue on white coloring. This is the style of plate that California used and issued from 1916 to 1919, with different shaped tabs for the different years. From the number on the plate, we can date this plate to 1916. California tab numbers should match the number on the license plate itself. This bell badge does not, featuring the number 312682, so it must have been replaced later on.

License plates make great house warming gifts or gifts for someone who was born the year the plates were issued, and they look stellar on a wall in a collection with many different states and colors. It would be a neat gift for someone who lives in California, a souvenir to remember a trip to the state, or even as decor to a California lover.

Condition:

This plate is in 100% original condition and has no touchups or restoration. The bell badge appears to be repainted, however. It is in great condition, and shows only a little wear and character from use on a vehicle and storage over the years. Most notably, some crazing lines beneath the porcelain and come minor chipping along the edges.
