1916 California Porcelain License Plate with Bear Tab Vintage Auto Collectible 157700

Here we have a vintage 1916 California porcelain license plate. This plate is made of porcelain enamel, which is a thin layer of glass finish over steel. The plate features the number 157700 and blue on white coloring. This is the style of plate that California used and issued from 1916 to 1919, with different shaped tabs for the different years. From the number on the plate, we can date this plate to 1916. California tab numbers should match the number on the license plate itself. This bear badge (from 1916) does not, featuring the number 204259, so it must have been replaced later on
