Up for sale is a 1917 Texas license plate pair. 1917 is the first year that the state of Texas issued license plates. While Texas issued undated plates such as these from 1917 through 1922, given this pair's number being below 400,000, they are "true" first issues that were actually issued in 1917. First issue Texas plates are relatively hard to find, especially in pairs. These plates feature the number 42486 and would look stellar on an old classic Ford or Chevy at a car show or in a license plate collection.

It would be a neat gift for someone who lives in Texas, a souvenir to remember a trip to the state, or even as decor to a Texas lover. License plates also make great house warming gifts or gifts for someone who was born the year the plates were issued, and they look stellar on a wall in a collection with many different states and colors.

Condition:

The plates are in 100% original condition, with no touch ups or restoration. The plates are in good vintage condition overall and do show wear, character, and patina from use and storage over the years. Most notably, they do show some heavier wear to the paint, but the metal is solid and there are no extra holes.

Size:

Measure about 14 inches long and 5.5 inches wide.
