Step back in time with this vintage American Biscuit & Mfg. Co. crate sign, a tangible piece of history that once graced the shipping crates in late 19th-century New York. This crate side, a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era, showcases the company's iconic graphic and logo: a vibrant and colorful parrot, vividly captured on the left side. Imagine the bustling scenes of New York during the late 1800s, where this label adorned crates filled with delicious biscuits, destined to become a staple in households across the nation.

Founded in 1890, the American Biscuit & Manufacturing Company left an indelible mark on the culinary landscape of its time. In 1898, it merged with the New York Biscuit Company to form the legendary National Biscuit Company, known today as Nabisco—one of the world's largest and most renowned bakeries. The slogan "Always ask for the 'Parrot Brand'" harks back to their iconic logo.

This crate slat, adorned with the original label is encased in a (new) sturdy red wood frame, brings authenticity and character to any space. Whether you're a collector of vintage memorabilia or simply appreciate the rich history embedded in everyday objects, this crate label is a unique and captivating addition to your home such as on a gallery wall. This piece was actually part of our own collection of advertising featuring birds but we ran out of space on our wall!

Display it proudly, and let the parrot's vibrant hues and the legacy of American biscuit-making spark conversations and memories of a time when the simple act of asking for the "Parrot Brand" meant indulging in the finest biscuits or cookies of the day.

Condition:

The sign does show some wear, as would be expected for a 100+ year old paper label attached to wood. It is largely in good condition and does have vibrant colors. The red frame is not original but that is how we found it.

Size:

Measures about 24 inches long and 10 inches wide.
