You won’t be feeling blue after hanging this nautical artwork in daily view! With its inspirational poem about Taylors Island, Maryland, this Frederick Polley tall ship painting/drawing hits the heart of any Maryland lover.

Made with heavy cardstock, the piece features a ship on the tidal marshes of Taylor’s island , small “islands” of loblolly pine and cedar forests which dot the marshes and have been relatively untouched by the small towns on nearby shores. Below the image is a poem that describes the love for the Chesapeake island.

Frederick Polley was an artist and teacher in the mid-20th century. He attended the Corcoran Art School, Washington, D.C., which is likely when he made this piece. Polley lived to 1957, so this piece dates to before this year.

Whether you’re decorating a cozy beach cottage or a sophisticated seaside retreat, this oceanic sign brings a touch of nautical history and timeless charm to your home. The warm colors effortlessly complement coastal decor, making it an eye-catching addition to any room. Embrace the spirit of the sea and the rich history of the Chesapeake with this stunning wall decor, and let your space reflect the beauty and adventure of the ocean.

Condition:

This piece is in relatively good vintage condition, and the paint has held up very well over the years. It does have some water staining along the left and upper edges from storage over the years. Additionally, there is a small rip along the top edge (near the mast) and on the right edge, along with some wear to the corners. A frame might nicely cover most of this up.

Size:

Measures roughly 30 inches tall and 20 inches wide.
